All About Candles

A candleis a lightsource usuallyconsisting of an internalwickwhichrises throughthe centerof a column of solid fuel. Typically the fuelis some formof wax withparaffin wax beingthe mostcommon. Priorto the candlebeingignited, the wickis saturated withthe fuelin its solid form. The heat of the match or otherflamebeingusedto lightthe candlefirst meltsand thenvaporizesa small amount of the fuel. Once vaporized, the fuelcombineswithoxygen in the atmosphereto forma flame. Thisflamethenprovidessufficient heat to keep the candleburning;via a self-sustaining chain of events: the heat of the flamemeltsthe top of the mass of solid fuel, the liquefiedfuelthenmovesupward throughthe wickvia capillary action, and the liquefiedfuelis thenvaporized to burnwithinthe candle’s flame. The burning;of the fueltakesplace in severaldistinctregions(as evidencedby the variouscolorsthatcan be seen withinthe candle’s flame). Within the bluer, hotter regions, hydrogenis beingseparatedfromthe fueland burned;to formwater vapor. The brighter, yellower part of the flameis the remainingcarbon soot beingoxidized to formcarbon dioxide.

Asthe mass of the solid fuelis melted and consumed, the candlegrows shorter. Portions of the wickthatare not evaporatingthe liquid fuelare themselvesconsumed in the flame, limiting the exposedlengthof the wick. Usage Priorto the domestication of electricity, candles;werea commonsource of lighting, before, and later in additionto, the oil lamp. Due to localavailabilityand the cost of resources, for severalcenturiesup to the 19th century candles;weremorecommonin northern Europe, and oliveoil lamps morecommonin southern Europe and around the MediterraneanSea. Makers of candles;wereknown as chandlers. Today, candles;are usuallyusedfor theiraesthetic value, particularlyto set a soft, warm, or romantic ambience, and for emergencylightingduringelectrical power failures. Scented candles;are commonin aromatherapy. Small candles;are oftenplaced on birthday cakes. ReligionCandlesare usedin religious ceremonies. ChristianityIn Christianity, they typically representthe lightof Jesus, and are oftenplaced on the altar. Votive candles;may be lit as an accompaniment to prayer. Candlesare lit by worshippers in front of iconsin Orthodoxand otherchurches. Candlemasmarks the end of the season of Epiphany. Candlesweretraditionally usedto lightup Christmastrees before the adventof electric lights;. Theyare still, even today, commonly;usedto decorate Christmastrees in Denmark and otherEuropeancountries. Theyare alsousedin Adventwreaths. In Sweden (and otherScandinaviancountries), St. LuciaDay is celebrated on December13 withthe crowning of a young girl witha ring of candles;. Judaism In Judaism, candles;are traditionally lit on Fridayeveningat the startof the weekly Sabbath celebration. The Jewishholiday of Chanukah, alsoknown as the Festival of Lights,is celebrated by lightinga candlein a special candelabrum(menorah) each night duringthe eight-day holiday to commemorate the dedication of the altar in the Temple in Jerusalem. Candlesare alsousedin remembering a deceased lovedone, especially on Yom HaShoah,The Day of the Holocaust. Readers can create candles that look like rainbows, aquariums, seascapes, playful sodas and other drinks, and more. Candle Tealights

Candle Tealights Candle Tealights

Candle wax does not burn?

I bought some pretty candles in jars, and paid good money for them, I turned on about 1 hour and the wax simply exhausted by the middle and waste loads of wax, this candle has burned for 10 hours, so I did a little test, I have small tealights little, they burn for about 5 hours each and the wax is good and becomes a liquid, and if I broke the wax cheap in 4 tiny bits and added to the candle, and you guessed emmersed in liquid wax it STILL DOES NOT BURN. so I took the wax and add 4 pieces of another candle, he hop mixed with and burned in 2 minutes, how can you stop yourself being strip like that, how can you say cheap candles from the right, and how do you know before you buy, please do not think I have no life to it (I do not)

You should not care so much about candles. Live your life with no regrets: D
