I have a Wisp Flameless Candle and I'm scouring ebay for more of them. They work great. In fact, I'm taking one to my office because we have a no candle.

I would also suggest a reed diffuser from Pier One. Those last forever.

I bought the Glade flameless candle to use in my classroom (we can't have candles there, either) and tried it in my house first. It's really strong! It's adjustable, too, so you can set it really strong or not so strong. The scent filled my entire basement, so I moved it upstairs to the living room....no time at all for the smell to be everywhere. It puffs every so often, too, and stays on for about 3 hours before it turns itself off. Looks like it will be perfectly safe to use because it stays cool. It's supposed to last about 45 days. If you have no air moving, you might want to set a fan on low, just to stir the air. I think it should work in your dorm room just fine. Use the coupon, and watch for refills with the $2 instant coupon on them. (I just got a bunch of those refills at K-mart. Made the refills really cheap.)
